The Sewing Circle Net is Australia's oldest Amateur
Radio net. The net operates every day At 17:00 (local Tasmanian
time) on 3.590MHz.
The net has been in existence for over 50 years. It is a gathering
of, mainly VK7's, and other amateur operators from around Australia
that have a general
rag-chew session about anything and everything. All amateurs are
welcome.
The Sewing Circle Net is not a club, it does not have official
members, nor does it have a committee. It is solely in existence as
an on air net.
The Sewing Circle Net has an annual get together (usually the 3rd
Sunday of March). Amateur Radio operators and their families gather
at Ross, in central
Tasmania, for what is known as "The Meet The Voice BBQ". This is an
opportunity for Tasmanian Amateur Radio operators and their families
to meet others
that they may have only spoken to on air. The 2012 event is set down
for Sunday 18 March 2012.
The event includes a raffle and an auction of pre-owned equipment.
All funds raised go towards repeater maintenance around the state.
